Mar 2006 - Mar 2011. Clinical training program in General Surgery and the Digestive System. University Hospital. University of Navarra. Pamplona, Spain. During my training period in general surgery I have taken part as first surgeon in 435 operations, as a second surgeon in 366 operations and as a third surgeon in 371 operations.
I performed all the main operations of the general and digestive system surgery including participation in liver transplantation (included living donor transplant). I got particular experience in advanced laparoscopic surgery applied mainly to bariatric, liver and colorectal surgery.
My main research interest during this period was the laparoscopic treatment of the liver and metabolic diseases. I have participated in a research project dealing with obesity and metabolism in rats (published in Obesity Surgery). I was also well trained in experimental surgery (using mini-pigs) and in laparoscopic suturing skills base on simulators for more than 75 hours.

Mar 2011 - Aug 2012. Consultant Surgeon, Department of General Surgery, Alcañiz Hospital, Aragon, Spain. During this period I have been working in a team with 8 surgeons performing advance laparoscopic surgery in the colorectal field and general surgery. I have been around 100 days on call as a consultant during this period. It is interesting highlight that in this hospital there is only one general surgeon on call who has to attend trauma calls as well.

I have performed around 60 bariatric surgical procedures on my own (gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric band and revisional surgery). Privately, I was working during the same period as bariatric assistant in five different private hospitals around London (Cromwell Hospital, Lister Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital, Weymouth Hospital and Wellington Hospital). Oct 2014. Visited the bariatric surgical unit at Royal Derby Hospital. NHS Foundation Trust. Derby. UK. Observed the clinical practice of Mr. Sherif Awad, current lead of the bariatric team.
CURRENT POSITION (Since March 2013)
“Interino” in General Surgery at Hospital of Alcañiz. I came back to the same hospital at which I had been working. I have been carrying on the same surgical practice than before.
I have developed the skills to perform endo-rectal ultrasound during these months for low rectal cancer staging and perianal pathologies. I have been in charged of it since April 2014 until to date.
